What’s Expected to Trend in Kitchen Design in 2025

As we look toward 2025, kitchen design is evolving in ways that are both exciting and transformative.

At The Maker Designer Kitchens, our design team stays ahead of these trends, delivering cutting-edge concepts that combine beauty, functionality, and luxury for our clients.

Our philosophy has always been rooted in providing bespoke kitchen renovations that reflect personal style and lifestyle needs while incorporating the latest in innovation and materials.

We’ll take you through the top kitchen trends we expect to see in 2025, many of which you can experience firsthand in our Perth showroom.

Curved island fascia

Curved stone fascias on kitchen islands are a new design trend continuing into 2025, evolving the use of curves in modern kitchens.

These islands can showcase a single luxurious stone or combine contrasting stone selections with complementary cabinetry.

In this kitchen below, we’ve paired a Caesarstone Alpine Mist curved fascia with Polytec Prime Oak Cove cabinetry, creating a stunning contrast that adds a rich, textural layer to the overall aesthetic.

Smart storage solutions: The future of functionality

Smart storage is a cornerstone of modern kitchen design, and in 2025, this trend is only going to grow. Homeowners are looking for ways to maximise space without compromising on style, and at The Maker Designer Kitchens, we have a wide range of innovative storage solutions that do just that.

Hidden drawers, pull-out pantries, and corner cabinetry solutions are just a few examples of how we integrate storage seamlessly into kitchen designs.

These features allow for a clean, clutter-free aesthetic, which is essential for creating a serene and functional space. Our showroom features a variety of these smart storage solutions, so you can explore the possibilities for your own kitchen.

In this featured kitchen shown below, our custom design seamlessly integrates a fully concealed fridge/freezer, artfully hidden behind bespoke cabinetry to blend effortlessly with the overall aesthetic.

Adjacent to the oven stack is a sleek appliance cupboard, thoughtfully designed to house everyday essentials like the toaster and coffee machine. When not in use, this discreet cupboard closes, ensuring a clean, streamlined look through expertly crafted cabinetry.

Smart taps: Convenience meets luxury

Integrated smart taps, like those from Zip Water and Billi, are a must-have for 2025 luxury kitchens.

These innovative taps are not just about convenience—they’re also a design statement. The ability to access filtered, chilled, hot, or even sparkling water with the touch of a button eliminates the need for bulky appliances like kettles, freeing up valuable bench space and creating a sleek, streamlined look.

One of our most popular models is the brushed gold Zip Hydrotap, which adds a touch of elegance to any kitchen. This tap’s minimalist design pairs beautifully with modern and traditional kitchen styles, and its functionality is unbeatable.

Whether you’ve opted for an integrated fridge behind custom cabinetry or a feature splashback, a smart tap is the perfect finishing touch.

Vertical detailing: Adding texture and depth

In 2025, expect to see more vertical detailing in kitchen designs. This trend is all about adding texture and depth to large areas of cabinetry that might otherwise feel flat or uninspired.

At The Maker Designer Kitchens, we’ve embraced vertical detailing in materials like Steccawood and Calcutta profile cabinetry in our kitchen renovations, both of which create a stunning visual effect.

Vertical detailing can be applied to everything from cabinetry to rangehood designs, and it works particularly well in kitchens that favour a minimalist or monochrome palette.

By incorporating these details, you can add a layer of sophistication that transforms a simple kitchen into a luxurious, tactile space.

Colourful kitchens: A return to bold tones

Colour is well and truely back. In 2025, we’re seeing a resurgence of colour in kitchen design, with homeowners embracing rich, bold tones to add personality and warmth to their spaces.

One of the most popular colours we’re working with is Florentine Walnut, which pairs beautifully with a range of design styles, from Mid-Century Modern to Scandinavian-inspired kitchens.

Deep greens and blues are also making a comeback, offering a fresh alternative to more neutral tones. These colours can be used for cabinetry, splashbacks, or even kitchen islands to create a standout feature that feels both contemporary and timeless.

Our design team loves working with clients to choose the perfect colour palette that reflects their unique taste. Visit our showroom to explore the possibilities and see how these colours can tie into your vision for your kitchen renovation.

The kitchen shown below showcases a stunning mid-century design, blending timeless elegance with modern flair.

The rich Florentine Walnut cabinetry brings warmth and depth to the space, while the striking green Kitkat splashback tiles add a vibrant pop of colour, creating a perfect balance between natural tones and bold accents.

Profiled & shaker cabinetry: A timeless classic

Profiled and shaker cabinetry continue to dominate kitchen design, and for good reason. These styles offer a balance between traditional and contemporary aesthetics, making them a popular choice for homeowners looking to create a kitchen that feels both classic and modern.

Our kitchen designers have noticed a growing trend of mixing shaker cabinets with sleek, flat-panel designs – something we like to call a Modern Shaker style kitchen

For example, in our Victoria Park renovation, we combined Polytec Ascot cabinetry in Classic White with Prime Oak handleless overhead cupboards, creating a striking contrast that adds visual interest without overwhelming the space.

Shaker cabinetry is also incredibly versatile when it comes to colours and finishes. Whether you prefer a matte finish or a gloss look, this style can be tailored to suit any kitchen design.

If you’re looking for a kitchen that combines texture, depth, and elegance, profiled or shaker cabinetry is the perfect solution.

Feature rangehoods: Making a statement

Gone are the days when rangehoods were purely functional. In 2025, they’ve become a design statement in their own right, with concealed box designs and bold shapes taking centre stage.

We’ve embraced this trend in many of our recent projects, including our Dianella kitchen renovation. In this design, the rangehood is concealed within a custom box featuring vertical detailing in Polytec Calcutta 25, complemented by floating shelves that create a cohesive look. This design not only hides the rangehood but also turns it into a striking architectural feature.

In addition to concealed box designs, we’re also seeing a rise in circular rangehoods and pendant-style rangehoods that double as light fittings—perfect for adding a touch of luxury to any kitchen.

Mediterranean coastal influence: Bringing the outdoors in

The Mediterranean coastal trend is all about creating a light, airy, and relaxed atmosphere in the kitchen.

In our North Beach project, we embraced this style with natural materials, soft tones, and a focus on creating an indoor-outdoor flow. Think light wood, stone finishes, and soft blues or sandy neutrals that evoke the feel of a coastal retreat.

If you’re looking to bring a bit of the Mediterranean into your home, our design team can help you achieve this laid-back yet luxurious look. From custom cabinetry to natural stone splashbacks, the Mediterranean coastal trend is perfect for those who want to combine style with a sense of tranquillity.

Metallic accents: A luxe touch

Metallic accents are set to be one of the biggest kitchen trends in 2025, and we’re already incorporating them into many of our kitchen designs.

Gold, bronze, and brushed nickel are among the most popular finishes, whether they’re used for cabinetry handles, statement sinks, or even light fixtures.

Mixing metallics is another trend we’re seeing more of, with clients opting for combinations like gold and black or bronze and silver to create a layered, sophisticated look. These accents can add a touch of glamour to any kitchen, making even the simplest designs feel luxurious.

Coloured cabinet internals: Unexpected elegance

Finally, coloured internals are a trend we’re particularly excited about. Using a contrasting colour inside glass-fronted cabinets or open shelving is a great way to add a unique touch to your kitchen design.

In our Duncraig project, we used Polytec Prime Oak for the internal cabinetry, creating a warm, inviting contrast that ties in beautifully with the rest of the kitchen’s design.

This subtle yet effective design choice allows you to personalise your kitchen in unexpected ways, adding depth and interest without overpowering the overall look.
